The Fourth Annual Social Media Workshop

The social media workshop I attended was very informational. The guest speakers I listened to were very insightful and gave a lot of useful tips involving using social media in the workplace. Each speaker had different tips and information for the audience, and their presentations were very interactive. The first speaker I listened to was one of my favorite speakers out of the rest of the day. Amanda Todorovich, the senior director for content and creative services for the Cleveland Clinic, gave a look into her strategies and provided a lot of good tips. The first tip was about scrap book social media. She said that this form of social media is irrelevant and it’s not how you can be successful as a brand. Other tips she gave was that people don't trust social media sales pitches, make your audience the main priority, data tells you EVERYTHING, define a strategy and stick to it, and engage users in your content on a daily basis. She also talked about how in seven years, their social media went from zero to seven million users. She said her secret to this was putting out content which targets their audience. Other speakers talked about how to use video and photography in social media and how the Dublin Irish Festival used the platform of social media to attract more people to their events.

The social media workshop was a good experience for me and I learned many good things from it. The speakers were very professional and had so many good things to talk about in the 45-minute time span each person had. Anything from learning about how the Cleveland Clinic went from no social media presence to almost seven million fans in just a few years, to learning how the Dublin Irish Festival uses social media to attract new people to their event. This was a very interesting workshop and hope to go next year as well.
