"Social Media for Strategic Communication"-What I Learned

In the first few pages of the book “Social Media for Strategic Communication”, I learned the goal of the book is to provide students like us with an integrated, strategic, and engaging focus on social media as an industry and a profession. there are some stereotypes that portray social media. Usually most books focus on tactical executions and platforms and specific tools. However, this book is going to focus more on the larger picture of creating a long-standing strategic mindset that helps students, brands, and professionals navigate around the always-changing landscape of social media with good and sustainable action steps and fundamental that will never go out of date. After reading this book, I will be able to walk away the understanding and knowledge of not only what social media is, but also how to use it from a strategic mindset in business. One stereotype is social media is just a phase in today’s world, and the platform won’t be around forever. Another stereotype is social media is really simple, and you don’t need a book to learn about it. There’s also the fact that people don’t know there’s math and analytics is too intimidating for people. The fact of the matter is that these stereotypes are just not true. The truth is analytics shouldn’t be intimidating or scary to anybody, they should actually be your friends in the social media field. Analytics can be used to justify your work you have or help determine future successes.
Social media is more than just posting pictures or comments on Twitter or Instagram. Social media in many ways is actually an art and a science, working together to bring forth a hybrid and integrated approach for the profession. Social media has matured and has become a staple in our modern and global society. Social media isn’t just a fad that can be just in a moment’s notice. Social media is constantly evolving turning into something bigger than anyone thought possible. Corporations, businesses, agencies, and even universities are starting to notice social media isn’t just starting to becoming powerful, but also how it can be directly applied and integrated for personal purposes. I’m very excited to learn more from this new book and I hope to get a lot of good information out of it.

  2. Hit the hammer right on the nail. It seems like this book is more in depth which will be very beneficial towards learning what needs to be done to be more strategically effective with social media.
