The Career Grand Slam: The Biggest Achievement in Golf

In the game of golf, there is a certain pinnacle every golfer chases in their career, the career grand slam. This achievement is so difficult to win only five players have completed it in the history of golf. The career grand slam is the concept of winning all four major championships in your career. These four majors consist of the Masters, the United States Open, the British Open, and the PGA Championship. These four tournaments are some of the hardest to win, which is why only a handful have achieved this feat. The golfers who have been able to accomplish this are naturally some of the greatest golfers to ever play the game. These five golfers are Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Ben Hogan, and Gene Sarazen. Just five golfers, in the history of golf. Rory Mcilroy, Jordan Spieth, and Phil Mickelson are all on the brink of joining these legends with one more major championship. Rory Mcilroy has stood at four major titles since 2014, when he won the British Open and PGA Championship in the same year. The major Rory is still missing is the Masters. Rory has had four opportunities to win the tournament, but has failed to so. However, he has placed in the top ten every year since 2014. Jordan Spieth has won three majors in his career, all of them coming before the age of 25. The major Spieth still needs in order to complete the career grand slam is the PGA Championship. At the age of 21, Jordan won the Masters and the U.S Open in the same year. He then won the British Open two years later in exciting fashion. Jordan has now had two chances to win his last major, but has failed to do so. The last player left on TOUR who has the chance to achieve the career grand slam is the player with the most opportunities to win it. At 48, Phil Mickelson has had five opportunities to win his last major ever since he won the British Open back in 2013. Mickelson still needs the U.S Open in order to complete the grand slam, but has finished runner-up five times in his career. Since Tiger Woods completed the grand slam 19 years ago, nobody has been able to complete this amazing accomplishment, but these three players are in a great position to break the drought.
