Rory Mcilroy Still Chasing Win as Drought Grows

Image result for rory mcilroy         Rory Mcilroy has been the most consistent player on the PGA TOUR in 2019, but has failed to win a tournament. In his last five starts on TOUR, he has placed in the top ten every time. In every start he has also been tied or near the lead entering the third and final round. For the past decade, Rory has been one of the best golfers on the planet, winning 23 worldwide events before the age of 30 years old. Out of those wins, he has four major championships, including two PGA Championships in three years (2012, 2014). However, he hasn’t been able to win a major since 2014. Since his last major win, Rory has gone through two injuries and many controversies surrounding his commitment to the game. There has also been the arrival of the young and talented generation of players. Players like Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and more who are 25 and under have been dominating the TOUR ever since Rory’s last win. Rory is mindful of this tournament drought, citing he is trying to silence the doubter with a win. "I'm committed to the journey of getting to a point where there is not a conversation anymore, so I just have to keep putting myself in those positions,” Rory also added, "I'm obviously playing good enough golf to get myself there (in contention)”. Many of the tournaments Rory has played in this year he has played very well until the pressures of Sunday make him stumble and fall out of contention or barely miss winning. Rory will most likely win in the coming months, but he will have to conquer the pressure a final round puts on a player in order to overcome it. This has been a very different year for the 29-year-old as well, looking out for himself instead of caring about what others think. Rory said back in 2018 he was going to play his game and stick to his schedule, not everyone else’s. "Everyone has to do what's best for them, and for me, next year, I'm trying to do what's best for me to help get back to the best player in the world and try to win majors again."
