Phil Mickelson Proves With Win That Age is Just a Number

There aren’t many sports you can play into your fifties, and still be playing at a high level. However, professional golfer, Phil Mickelson doesn’t believe this. Mickelson has been playing on the PGA TOUR for over 25 years and has proved to be one of the best golfers to play the game the sport. At 48 years old, Phil Mickelson is still competing with the best golfers in the world, who are much younger and stronger than he is. This doesn’t bother Mickelson though, as he proved this past Sunday at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Mickelson trailed by three shots behind his playing partner, Paul Casey, going into the final round of the tournament. However the rainy and dreary conditions taking place the entire week didn’t affect Mickelson. With his experience and know-how of the game, Mickelson quickly closed the gap on Casey on Sunday. He would then take the outright lead in the final closing holes of the tournament, but darkness was falling very quickly on the course. With just two holes to play, the horn blew on the course for play to be canceled. Mickelson was very frustrated with this, trying to explain to the officials he could still see and wanted to keep playing. The officials didn’t change their mind and play was canceled and play would resume the next morning. Mickelson would play the last two holes Monday morning and finish off the tournament for 44th PGA TOUR win.

Phil Mickelson has been one of the most consistent best golfers ever since he made his debut back in the early 90s. As he continues to approach 50 years of age, Mickelson still continues to amaze people with how he plays and even he is getting better with age. When you look at the history of golf, there aren’t many golfers who can still compete and even win in their late 40s. This is because of the new age of young golfers on the PGA TOUR are dominating the professional golf circuit, but Mickelson is still proving he is still here, and he can still win.
